Luau 2009 Testimonials
Yesterdays tournament was a great time. All the food was amazing and I was happy to get a few beers even though we ended late. We finished first in the B division. Outlaws was the team name. We came back to the score table but everyone was gone. We finished on court 19 so they probably thought everyone was done. We never got to pick up our cash prize. What would be the best way to pick it up?

Another fantastic Luau!! We really enjoyed it again this year and think you guys do an awesome job.
A few of us were talking on the day of the Luau and the only suggestion that we could think of for next year would be to have a "Losers Bracket". That would give teams an opportunity to at least play one more game - and if they were in a really tough pool they would have the chance in another playoff.
They added a consolation bracket to the Spike for Kids tournament this year and people really seemed to enjoy it because they had the chance to play at least one more game.
Thats all I got :) Great tournament this year again!!!

Hey there,
This email is in response to your request for comments and criticisms. I'm am summarizing what was discussed by myself and by a number of my friends who were also at the Luau.
GOOD:
* Venue. The grass was great. The park was great.
* Food. We were impressed by the variety of food. We liked that there was a lot of fruit was well as the less-healthy stuff (burgers, brats, etc)
* 2 games to 21 (as opposed to 1 game to 30)
* PA system. We could hear all announcements.
BAD:
* No consolation tournament. It was clear from the number of empty courts that this could have happened. It was also clear that many would have enjoyed it given that a lot of folks were organizing impromptu games after pool play had ended.
* Length of time between pool play and the start of the tournament. Is there some way that scores could be entered into a computer and use a pre-set macro to create the brackets? Especially if you are receiving scores throughout the day, I imagine this could have been done more quickly.
* Grass conditions early in the morning. Wet - though there's not much that could be done about this given the time of year. But also that the grass had clearly just been cut and there was loose grass all over. This added to the lack of traction.
All in all, it was a great tournament.

Hello Chuck,
I was really impressed with the organization displayed at the event for food, drink, and the initial pools. I think the area that needs the most improvement is time required to make the brackets. The lag between the final pool game and first bracket game was very long for Men’s B. This is the only area that I could see needing improvement, other than this, everything was great! Thanks for making this happen.

Hey chuck its barbara bucko, just wanted to let u know again another fantastic year at the luau . u guys really do a great job and it is a lot of work putting up those nets and getting everything together , but it was awesome.. and cant wait till next years luau.. also the music u guys play is just awesome.

Great tournament Saturday! We lost in the semifinals, but still a great time.
How can I contact DJ Secret? He played "Dangerous on the Dancefloor" while we played at the Luau, and I need that song for my wedding next month!!
Just wondering if he can send it to me, or where I can download it. Or maybe I should contact Rod first?

Hey Chuck,
My friends and I had an absolute blast this past weekend. Thanks for being part of such a great organization and helping put this tournament together. I do have a quick question however. Will you be having any women's 4s tourneys this fall or it is it all coed and 6s. Thanks!
