New rule this year at Clarendon  any time a ball hits a basketball backborad it is a replay
this is the house ruls and that is what we will go by, even if the ball is hit over the net and hits the backboard.
1.  Start  on Time  7: 00 P.M. Sharp.
First game will be forfeited at 7:10 PM, 2nd game at 7:20 PM, 3rd game at 7:30 PM.
2.  Team fielding less than six players may play with a minimum of 4 Players. No ghost rule applies.
3.  All matches are 2 games to 25 points, Rally Scoring (First team to score 25 points wins the game.)
4.  There is no roster limit, so make every possible effort to have a full team present each night.
The substitution rule is very flexible, subs may be obtained from anywhere including other teams
in the league, in order to field a team of six. (No ringers please)
Remember the awards are limited to 8 prizes per team, subs are not guaranteed an award.
5.  Time permitting all teams will make the playoffs.  To be eligible for the playoffs a player must
have participated in at least 2 nights, 4 matches, 8 games of play in the round robin.  Only in the case of
injury or illness to be eligible players, will a majority decision of team captains be
necessary to determine fair substitutions for the playoffs.
6.  The refereeing team must have a minimum of 4 members present at game time to avoid
a $25.00 fine.  It is preferable that all six players are involved in reffing, PLEASE!
7. Jump Serving is allowed, ceiling and all obstacles on the ceiling are in play of ball comes
down on your side of the net.  The basketball Backboards, Hoops, and net (All the way to the
ceiling) at the end of the courts (behind the refs) are out of play.
8.  If a situation arises not specifically covered by USVA RULES, try to contact Chuck Seminary by cell phone
at 773-590-1763, if you cannot get in contact with me then get the three team captains together
and figure out how to resolve the issue, then call Chuck the next day, or someone send an
    e-mail spikevolley@aol.com
9.  USAV rules  will apply except where the league rules differ.  Let serve is allowed. If using a
libero player you must inform referee.  Backboards are referee's judgement.
10. Above all we are here to have fun, and play competitive Volleyball, Let's Just Do It!
TEAM CAPTAIN'S (REP) RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.  Make sure six players show up each week
B.  Inform players of Byes and Cancellations
C.  Get the games started on Time
D.   Make sure all Scoresheets stay in the Folder or are returned to the folders after
the Match.  Report scores on your team's night (when you are the last team to ref
on your court)  Recap all games on the court:  Example
Team #1 3 wins 1 loss
Team #2 2 wins 2 lpsses
E.  Make sure the date the match and the game number and the team names as well as  Team #3 4 wins 0 losses
team numbers appear on the score sheets very legible
11.   THE OFFICIAL RULE FROM THE USAV RULE BOOK:
7.1  Before the match, the first referee carries out a coin toss to decide on the first service and the sides of the court in the first set.
7.1.1  The toss is taken in the presence of the two team captains
7.1.2 The winner of the toss chooses:
    EITHER
7.1.2.1 THE RIGHT TO SERVE OR TO RECEIVE THE SERVICE
7.1.2.2  OR   the side of the court
The loser takes the remaining choice
19.2 CHANGE OF COURTS;
19.2.1   After each set the teams change courts, with the exception of a deciding set
19.2.2   If there is a deciding set a coin toss is usually done and winner again has choice of side or serve,
however midway into the game the teams switch sides
My Interpretation of these rules:
Since we only play two matches we must change sides for each match.
winning the coin toss before the first game determines only who will serve and who will  receive,
BOTH TEAMS Switch sides and the team that lost the toss IN THE FIRST GAME gets choice to serve or receive.
